Somerstock music festival features two outside stages, the Trebble Roofing Stage and the Somerton Windows Stage to provide continuous music from 11am through to 11pm with headline band The Christians performing on the main stage at 10pm

The Bradfords Stage (marquee) will open with a silent disco for children sponsored by CRS Building Supplies starting at 11 am, followed by a fantastic programme of local and up and coming bands.

The Christians

Headlining the 2021 festival are pop and soul legends The Christians. Renowned for an endless string of soulful yet socially aware hits – Forgotten Town, Ideal World, Born Again, Harvest for the World, Whats in a Word, Hooverville, Words, Father, The Bottle and many more, The Christians enjoyed huge acclaim in the late 80s and early 90s both in the UK and Europe and often confused people with their band name (in fact just the brothers surname with absolutely no religious connotation!).

The Christians

Renowned for an endless string of soulful yet socially aware hits, Forgotten Town, Ideal World, Born Again, Harvest for the World, What’s in a Word, Hooverville, Words, Father, The Bottle and many more, the Christians enjoyed huge acclaim in the late 80s and early 90s both in the Uk and Europe and often confused people with their band name. In fact it is just the brothers’ surname – absolutely no religious connotation!

Still headed by enigmatic lead singer Garry Christian (who very much deserves the Darily Mirror’s description of him as having ‘one of the finest voices in pop’) who has only gained in vocal stature, and wit, over the years! The band are enjoying a revival.

Black Friday

For over a decade the unstoppable Black Friday have been delivering their stomping, high energy home-brew of folk punk music across the south west and beyond. Hailing the Cornish village of St Germans, Black Friday began their journey in their local pub in 2006.  Their music has taken them across the seas to Ireland and Europe gathering adventures and stories along the way. Their music is influenced by their Irish and Cornish roots and their folk heroes. Catchy original songs and their take on folk favourites by the likes of Flogging Molly and The Pogues will keep you dancing all night.

The band performs well over a hundred gigs a year and they have racked up an impressive list of festivals, among which are Glastonbury, Mad Hatters Wonderland Festival in France, the ‘Jolly Roger’ Pirate ship stage at Boomtown Fair and Boardmasters.

Alex Lipinski

The first thing that hits you is the voice. From caressing sympathy to full-throated resentment, Alex Lipinski has grabbed unwary listeners from the West Country to Krakow, Berlin and New York, since he first left Somerset to become a crucial habitué of Soho’s legendary, lost 12-Bar Club. He has followed in the footsteps of his hero Dylan to write in the Chelsea Hotel, and sung songs in the home of an admiring Liam Gallagher, who is a firm champion.

A brief tenure heading up Phoneys & The Freaks with Oasis’s Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs brought forth an EP, festival appearances and touring in the U.S and Italy. Lipinski’s latest album ‘ALEX’ was recorded and produced in Berlin by Anton Newcombe (The Brian Jonestown Massacre) and released on Anton’s ‘A’ Recordings label. Hailed by Newcombe as, “a young man worth my time and efforts. I appreciate his endless hard work and do it yourself ethics. Make no mistake, these songs have all the qualities of timeless music.”

Lipinski’s potential was obvious when he arrived with his guitar in Soho a decade ago. Relentless graft and restless experience see that potential now being fulfilled.

Whole Lotta Led

Whole Lotta Led are the longest running, full-time professional tribute to Led Zeppelin.

Since their formation in 1996 the band have continually led the field of Zep tributes and with over
1,500 shows to their name they have performed ‘Stairway To Heaven’ more times than any other band in the world – INCLUDING Led Zeppelin.

The founding musicians Geoff Hunt (bass) and Nick Ferris (lead guitar) are still full time members.
The current line-up, for the last 7 years, includes Charles Hart (drums) and Lee Pryor (vocals, acoustic guitar & harmonica). This format is augmented by the addition of a guest keyboard player with the resulting five-piece line-up recreating the sounds of Led Zeppelin’s original studio albums to an astonishing level of accuracy.

Whole Lotta Led have always avoided using wigs and costumes, they do not try to ‘be’ Led Zeppelin,
it has always been about celebrating the incredible music which Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones and John Bonham created during their illustrious career. This has proven to be an exceptionally popular style with the band’s world class delivery and customary two and half hour shows receiving universal acclaim from Zeppelin fans the length and breadth of the UK.
