The 2024 bands

The fun starts at 6pm on Friday night when we have a special selection of live bands and acoustic sounds to set the mood. You can round off the evening off tripping the light fantastic at our silent disco

The music continues all day on Saturday across two outdoor stages, culminating on Saturday night with our headline act Shakatak.

BAREFOOT BANDIT

The Barefoot Bandit is a heavy-weight ensemble with a strong and loyal fan base, which mixes various musical styles, incorporating elements of reggae, punk rock, dub and world music.

THE CABARATS

The Cabarats bring a new musical experience to the global underground, combining traditional Balkan and Middle Eastern sounds with lively reggae and ska, using a collection of intriguing instruments such as accordion, oud, keyboard and brass.

CHARLIE MILLER

The Charlie Miller band plays Charlie's original music and classic funk and soul covers. The band oozes sweetness, grooves hard and will make you dance the night away.The lineup includes Richie Brunton, Liz Gilbert, Richard Jenkins and Greg Shepheard.

CLASSIC ROCK REVIVAL

The 8-piece band take audiences on a spectacular journey through the golden age of Classic Rock, performing hits from artists such as Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Pink Floyd, Bon Jovi, Fleetwood Mac & the Eagles

FLORENCE & BARE SOULS

From sleazy blues, to sultry soul, to good old fashioned rock n’ roll, Florence & The Bare Souls are breathing fresh life into classic genres. Florence leads the group with a rich and powerful voice, reminiscent of the 70’s soul greats.

GET LOOSE

Get Loose is a high-energy blues/rock band taking pride in their original music and dynamic live performances. The band has played festivals, venues and clubs including support to The Bonnevilles, Oli Brown, Dr Feelgood and Focus.

HARRI PICK

Harri Pick is Taunton-born and London-based. Her sound is pop-rock, a harmonious blend of sounds from the likes of Sam Fender and Beabadoobee. She has incredible 'of-the-time' lyrics, a DIY attitude and a unique vocal tone.

GRIZZLY & THE GRASSHOPPERS

Fronted by the big man Grizzly Rhys Morgan, the band brings original music, gritty vocals, blazing lapslide and soaring electric guitar work to the stage – with a solid backbone of dazzling keyboard, thumping drums, driving bass lines and seriously swampy harmonica.

MATT OWENS

British born singer-songwriter and musician, Matt Owens came first to prominence as a founder member of indie-folk band Noah and the Whale. Releasing four albums, Noah and the Whale achieved huge success.

STAND ALONE EMPIRE

An acoustic duo from South Somerset performing popular covers from the 50s to the present day, with a few of their own songs for good measure. They have performed all over the UK.

THAT BRIT POP BAND

Formed in the infancy of the UK’s first lockdown in 2020, the band has become widely regarded as the UK’s ultimate Britpop tribute band. A no-holds-barred genre tribute act solely dedicated to the last major British movement in music – 90s Britpop.

TWISTED VINYL

Arguably the most exciting live band currently on the South West circuit, Twisted Vinyl perform barnstorming covers of timeless songs The band won the prestigious ‘Let me entertain you’ competition in 2015.

Headliners: Shakatak

Shakatak has enjoyed a level of success and career longevity rarely paralleled in contemporary music but then Shakatak is a particularly unusual group. Because of the nature of their music their fan base is one that is far reaching while always retaining an “underground” element. This paradox sees the band, who are known primarily for their musicality, enjoying both high “cult” status and instant recognition as a household name due to their numerous hit recordings.

For live performances the band consists of original members Bill Sharpe (keys), Jill Saward (lead vocals, percussion & flute), Roger Odell (drums), George Anderson (bass guitar) and Keith Winter (guitar) augmented by Jacqui Hicks (backing vocals & sax) or Debby Bracknell (backing vocals & flute), a six piece line-up who combine to produce a musically dynamic and entertaining show.

Original bandmember and guitarist Keith Winter, who was forced by illness to cease playing, is back with the band after an 18 year absence, completing the original line up.

Throughout their long career Shakatak has released over 50 CDs plus several DVDs and most of the band’s extensive back catalogue is available world-wide on Secret Records or JVC Records plus iTunes and the usual outlets.

With a new album “Eyes Of The World” and the single Love Is Gonna Getcha released in October 2023 and a special Gold Vinyl version of their classic “Nightbirds” album now available, Shakatak looks forward to a fifth decade of recording and world-wide live performances!


Barefoot Bandit (Saturday – Main Stage)

The Barefoot Bandit is a heavy-weight ensemble based in the South West. The band mixes various musical styles, incorporating elements of reggae, punk rock, dub and world music.

Building a strong and loyal fan base, TBB have spread their sounds far and wide. Packed out shows at prestigious venues such as the Electric Ballroom in Camden have seen the band become a must-watch act on the UK touring and festival circuit.

Festival highlights include appearances at Glastonbury Festival, Boardmasters, Boomtown Fair, and more including headline slots and main stage displays at some of the UK’s favourite music festivals.

Having reached #4 in the iTunes reggae charts, TBB have self released two EPs. Both records have received national airplay from the likes of legendary DJ David Rodigan on BBC Radio 1 Extra and numerous plays on BBC Introducing.

The Bandit has had the pleasure of supporting renowned artists such as Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Katchafire, The Cat Empire, Easy Star All-Stars, Dubioza Kolectiv, Gentleman’s Dub Club, Horace Panter & Lynval Golding (The Specials) and have been regular openers for electronica dub favourites, Dreadzone.

The group is gearing up to release its debut album later this year, recorded at the illustrious Karma Sound Studios in Thailand.


The Cabarats (Saturday – Main Stage)

The Cabarats bring a new musical experience to the global underground, combining traditional Balkan and Middle Eastern sounds with lively reggae and ska. Using a collection of intriguing instruments such as accordion, oud, keyboard and brass, the band has dazzled a wide range of audiences from festival crowds and stages at iconic venues to private functions and community events.

After the successful release of their debut album “Out of the Bag”, the last few years has been an exciting journey. The band appeared on one of the main stages at Boomtown Fair and gained the attention of BBC Introducing, performing on their stage at Looe Saves the Day. Their list of festival appearances are endless but include Camp Bestival, Tropical Pressure, Chagstock and Goulash Disko in Croatia.

In March 2022, their new single Mindmasher was released from their new upcoming album “A Fools Paradise”. Don’t Know Why is set for release on the 9th December with the album to follow in February.

The Cabarats has supported renowned acts such as Dubioza Kollectiv, Tankus the Henge, The Undercover Hippy, and Cut Capers as well as headlining their own shows across the nation and embarking on various European adventures. The Cabarats sets out to share its magic at festivals, venues, parties and even a few street corners.


The Charlie Miller Band (Friday headliner)

The Charlie Miller Band plays original soul music and a range of the very best classic soul, rock and funk pieces including some cheeky covers to make you ‘get up to get down’! The band comprises talented players with vast experience and the best pedigrees in soul, R&B and funk.

Charlie Miller has been involved in music throughout his life. He moved to Glastonbury in 1977. Initially teaching himself drums, he now plays multiple instruments as well as vocals and ccomposes his own songs. Over the years he has been part on many different line ups and regularly at events across the country.

Liz Gilbert was born and raised in New York where she enjoyed performing on stage from an early age and trained as a vocalist. She made her first appearance with a band on stage at the legendary CBGB’s with the Henry Army in 1986. She’s been singing with Charlie in various bands for over 25 years and has appeared as a vocalist on CDs with a number of local bands in various musical styles including Flipron, THiNK, The Space Pirates, and Chris Jagger.

Richard Brunton taught himself guitar, learning from the records of American innovators like BB, Albert & Freddie King, Wes Montgomery, Lonnie Johnson and T-Bone Walker. He started a band called The Epidemic as a teenager and played around the humming R&B and soul scene in his native Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Richard Jenkins has been playing music in some form his whole life. Starting on violin and later adding piano, he learnt classically but always enjoyed improvising which eventually led to his getting involved in the dark art of jazz.

Will Cartwright comes from a family rooted in music. He leads his own band as well as complimenting many other musicians over the years.

Ian Miller is a music producer and arranger as well as a talented drummer. He performs in several bands and has helped create the sound and feel of many line ups over the years.


Classic Rock Revival (Saturday – Main Stage)

Following a stellar performance in 2022, Classic Rock Revival is making a return to Somerstock to bring us the best of its greatest hits from the 60s, 70s & 80s! The band will be returning with a new show featuring hits from genre-defining artists such as Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Fleetwood Mac, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Queen, Led Zeppelin, Eagles, and many more.

Through its impeccable attention to detail, Classic Rock Revival strives to recreate each song as close to the original recording as possible with note-perfect guitar solos and flawless four-part vocal harmonies, all whilst delivering an exhilarating, high-energy live show that is guaranteed to have the audience singing and dancing from the first note until the last!

Classic Rock Revival has been performing at festivals and theatres across the United Kingdom and has built its reputation as one of the leading classic rock tribute acts in the country. They are ready to take you on a spectacular journey through three decades of classic rock


Harri Pick (Saturday – Main Stage)

Orignally from Somerset and based in London, Harri began writing and recording her original music in 2016. Now at 21, she has built a loyal and dedicated fan base with her of-the-time lyrics, DIY attitude and unique vocal tone. Launching into 2021 with big plans and great songs.

After being signed to a new management last year, Harri took to the studio to create her most mature work to date. The track takes a darker, more rock sounding tone than before as she takes inspiration from the likes of Beabadoobee and Sam Fender, creating a piece of work that she is excited to get on the road and tour with.

Harri Pick has just released her first single, Just Wait, from her new EP due for release in June. Written as a self-love anthem, Just Wait is about not expecting everything right away, that it’s okay to step back and take some time for yourself, especially in these challenging times. It’s an anthem to the dreamers.


Junebugs (Friday Night)

The act that won the Battle of the Bands contest in April, voted for by the audience on the night and the Somerstock organisers. Junebug is a fantastic line up of up-and-coming young musicians from Strode College who formed is a 5-piece band playing around the Glastonbury area in the spirit of home grown alternative rock. They take their inspiration from bands like The Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead and other experimental groups. With their high energy rhythm section, soaring fuzz tones as well as shimmering and chiming chordal breaks, they are sure to be a hit at Somerstock.


Florence and the Bare Souls (Friday Night)

Florence & The Bare Souls are a sonic blend that defies categorisation. This seven piece Bristol-based outfit draw inspiration from soul legends and rock titans from the 70s to today, and infuse their music with raw, emotive energy.

Florence’s powerhouse vocals soar above gritty guitar riffs, soulful horn lines and solid rhythms, creating a mesmerising fusion that bridges generations.

The band was born in Bristol, where Florence collected a group of extremely talented local musicians to help bring her songs to life. The city, known for its diverse musical landscape, played a crucial role in shaping the band’s eclectic sound. It’s rich musical heritage and the bands diverse backgrounds seeped into Florence & The Bare Souls’ DNA, further enriching their sonic palette.

Known for their electrifying live performances, front woman Florence commands the stage with an irresistible charisma. Their shows are a testament to their dedication to the craft and their desire to connect with their audience on a profound level, from playing across the South West, to festivals such as Boomtown, Wilderness and Nozstock, and even playing a run of shows in Bahrain!

As Florence & The Bare Souls continue to evolve and grow, fans can look forward to an exciting year ahead. The band has been hard at work in the studio, crafting a series of new singles that promise to be their best work yet. These forthcoming releases will showcase the band’s evolving sound, embodying their musical evolution while staying true to their fusion of modern rock, soul, and vintage blues-rock influences.


Get Loose (Saturday – Stage 2)

Get Loose is a high-energy blues/rock band that takes pride in its original music and dynamic live performances. The band has played festivals, venues and clubs including support to The Bonnevilles, Oli Brown, Dr Feelgood and Focus.

Their first self-titled album received great reviews and showed passion and talent to create some truly original music.

Their new 12 track album, “Let it Rise”, produced and mixed by Steve “Geezer” Watkins,  is out now and has had rave reviews including Blues Matters: “What we have here is a slightly different type of band …. A melting pot of great lyrics and a swagger that will have you playing it over and over. Bravo guys!”

And Blues in Britain: “If the taut performances, clean cut recording and crisp production impress, the real gold lies in the songs. Not a duffer in sight”.

Band members include Lee Castle on guitar and vocals, Dan Bonas on bass and vocals, Leil Lewis on keys, Paul Ashby on harmonica and Phil Aris on drums.


Grizzly & the Grasshoppers (Saturday – Stage 2)

Grizzly & the Grasshoppers is an acoustic blues and roots band, based in the South East of England, which is fast establishing itself on the wider music scene. The band is fronted by the powerful and gritty vocals oflead singer Rhys Morgan, who plays guitar, lap-slide guitar and seriously swampy harmonica. He is supported by the multi talented Jamie Bowden on keyboards, guitar and djembe and the driving rhythms of Neil Shervell  on drums.

Crowds have been seen swaying, bouncing and jumping as one, as the band bring their own brand of roots and blues to festival stages throughout the country.


Matt Owens & the Delusional Vanity Project (Saturday – Main Stage)

British-born musician Matt Owens is three albums into his solo career, unjaded, thoroughly enjoying himself and currently in the throes of recording his fourth. He first came to prominence as a founder member of indie-folk band Noah and the Whale.

Noah and the Whale achieved huge success in the UK and overseas with four their albums, selling over one million albums in the UK alone. The band toured the world between 2006 and 2014, playing hundreds of festivals as well as touring with the likes of Arcade Fire, Bahamas, and Laura Marling.

Whilst for the last five years Matt has been establishing his solo credentials through relentless touring, he has also been in high in demand as a songwriter, producer and session player working with, amongst many others, Thea Gilmore, Robert Vincent, Hannah White, Elles Bailey and The Korgis.

It was back in February 2019 that Matt’s debut solo album, “Whiskey and Orchids” was released to widespread critical acclaim including a 5-star review in Maverick Magazine. 2020 saw the release of Matt’s second album “Scorched Earth”, to a fanfare of acclaim from the music press. Many BBC Radio shows made it their album of the week, Bob Harris included Cargo for the Road on his first “Best of Under the Apple Tree” compilation and the album went on to feature in many Americana album of the year polls.

In Autumn 2022 Matt released “Beer For The Horses,” cut live with his all-star band The Delusional Vanity Project which features members of The Leylines, Clemencie, Danny and the Champs, Tree Top Flyers, and Little Mammoths. The collection of songs is his most accessible and rocking to date and received rave reviews from Americana UK and heavy rotation from radio with his lead single Go Easy on Yourself, Numbered Days, and the title track. His fourth album is slated to be out later this year. Matt will be back with the Delusional Vanity Project at Somerstock in 2024.


Stand Alone Empire (Saturday – Stage 2)

Standalone Empire are a professional acoustic duo from South Somerset who perform popular covers from the 50s to nowadays with a few of their own songs for good measure.

They have performed all over the UK and have been lucky enough to share a stage with artists such as Dodgy, The Bluetones, Reef, The Rifles, Space and many more.


That Brit Pop Band (Saturday – Stage 2)

Formed in the infancy of the UK’s first lockdown in 2020, That Britpop Band haa quickly become widely regarded as the UK’s ultimate britpop tribute band. That Britpop Band is a no-holds-barred act solely dedicated to the last major British movement in music – 90s britpop. Covering songs from the genre’s obvious big-hitters such as Oasis, Blur, Pulp, and The Verve to the often-unsung heroes like Supergrass, Shed Seven, and The Seahorses, the band leaves no britpop-shaped stone unturned in their fast-paced, high-energy tribute show.

The band comprises four musicians whose combined gigging history would put the most seasoned of players to shame! Having played all over the world from New Zealand to Old Camden Town with the likes of Bill Wyman, Bad Manners, Babyshambles, The View, Ben Waters, John Power and the mighty Chas & Dave (to name but a few), it’s fairly safe to say that these boys know their way around the stage!

That Britpop Band have already made a huge impact on the tribute band scene and have also gained a massive online following; being personally endorsed by britpop legends Shed 7 and the one and only Chesney Hawkes!


Twisted Vinyl (Friday Night)

Twisted Vinyl perform barnstorming covers of timeless songs, ranging from the 50s to modern classics. They are arguably the most exciting live band currently performing on the South West circuit. The band won the prestigious ‘Let me entertain you’ competition in 2015 and were subsequently invited to perform on BBC Radio Somerset’s Christmas Celebration show, as well as being invited to Abbey Road 104 for Will Rooney’s Christmas special.


DJ Slighty

Based in Somerset DJ Slighty is a young DJ and producer banging out house, garage, drum and bass, jungle and more!

During COVID, DJ Slighty evicted his mum from her home office and turned it into his music studio!
With experience in pubs, at festivals and private events, Slighty has built up experience catering to different crowds.  Aside from DJing he also plays guitar, drums and released his first single back in June 2023
